Salmon Arm – Metford Dam Disinfection Station

The City of Salmon Arm typically has used Metford Dam as a backup water source. However, because this source is at a high elevation the cost of operating it is much less than that of the lake water. This project is construction of a new disinfection station for Metford Dam that includes hypochlorite and UV. This project will eliminate the need for chlorine gas which poses a potential hazard to operators and nearby residents. This project was designed to minimize cost by reusing pumps from an old pump station and chlorine tanks as well.
