Projects - Odour Control

Odour control in wastewater treatment plants have always been a concern with governments and concerned citizens.

Dayton & Knight always gives top priority to these issues.  We have completed many projects and have been successful in adhering to requirements.

Below are examples of odour control projects that have been incorporated in wastewater treatment plants:

Whistler WWTP Odour Control

Dayton & Knight undertook odour control surveys and evaluated solutions to treat foul air from the Whistler Wastewater Treatment Plant.  A continuously wetted bio-tower was selected.

The facility was constructed in conjunction with a Stage III expansion.  The bio-tower consists of a 4 m depth of nitrifying trickling filter media that is continuously wetted with the effluent to absorb odour pollutants from an upflow of foul air exhausted from the primary, septage and biosolids treatment facilities.

The Stage II expansion of the French Creek Water Pollution Control Centre added a 2m wide automotive back-cleaned mechanical bar screen to increase channel capacity to 30,000 population.  A bypass channel retained a pre-existing automatic bar for emergency services.
