City of Kelowna - Poplar Point Pump Station Electrical Upgrade

Completed Pump Station Upgrade

  Dayton & Knight Ltd., in conjunction with LEX Engineering Ltd., has provided design and contract services for the City of Kelowna, Poplar Point Pumping Station Electrical Upgrade.  This project has involved the design and construction of a new electrical building, supply and installation of three new primary transformers, along with a 1500 kW standby 12.5 kV genset and related primary and medium voltage switchgear.

Description: Construction of a new genset and electrical equipment annex. Installation and commissioning of Corporation supplied equipment including 2.3KV and 12.47KV switch gear; 1,500 KW genset; and 500 HP starters.

Connection of all new electrical equipment to existing 1000 KVA and 2500/3333/4200 KVA 12.47 KV delta HV, 2.3KV wye LV distribution step-down power transformers.

Installation of a new 12.47 KV incoming utility and sewage lift station.
Site works including foreshore erosion protection.

City of New Westminster Queensborough - Carter Street Drainage Pump Station Replacement


As a part of the Queensborough Drainage program, a new 2.5 m3/s drainage pump station was provided to drain approximately one-fourth of the Queensborough drainage area.

The $2M Carter St. pump station collects drainage from about a quarter of Queensborough catchment area, and discharges the water to the Fraser River. The station incorporates two 85Hp. variable speed, propeller type pumps and one 10Hp duty pump. A diesel powered 225Kw generator provides standby power, and the station incorporates a PLC control with a radio link to the City’s SCADA system.

Other work in the drainage program upgraded culverts, storm pipes, and ditches to increase the conveyance of the storm water to the pump stations.
