Stormwater Management - Design Manual

City of Kelowna

The Master Drainage Plan for the City of Kelowna regional watershed included regulatory and user needs, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, identification of drainage problems, and a stormwater policies and design manual.

The manual contains descriptions of planning responsibilities for both the municipality and the development community, planning needs, and general design criteria for stormwater management infrastructure.  According to the manual, the municipality is responsible for conducting drainage studies for individual catchments while the development community is responsible for the design of stormwater management facilities and for downstream impacts.

Use of the manual ensures that individual catchment studies are carried out using a consistent and rational approach throughout the regional watershed.
