Opus DaytonKnight was established in 1965 as
a company that specializes in wastewater treatment engineering. We
have designed the majority of wastewater treatment facilities in the
Province of British Columbia, including the Province's largest secondary
treatment plant outside of Greater Vancouver
-
the Joint Abbotsford Matsqui Environmental System
(JAMES).
Opus DaytonKnight has a continuing research interest,
and actively participates with the University of British Columbia in wastewater
treatment process development such as ATAD and biological phosphorus removal.
Through our extensive work at British Columbia’s wastewater treatment
facilities, Opus DaytonKnight has gained a reputation for technical
ability, process understanding, practical solution and excellent client
relationships.

Biological Nutrient Removal
Opus DaytonKnight continues to be a leader in the field of wastewater treatment
and can assist your team when considering biological nutrient removal.
In
the District of Salmon Arm WWTP a
Fixed Growth Reactor - Suspended Growth Reactor
(FGR-SGR)
combination was
incorporated. This facility discharges high quality, tertiary-treated
effluent to the environmentally sensitive Shuswap Lake.

Outfall Systems
We have extensive experience on outfall
projects. This includes involvement from the concept stage, site
studies (oceanographic and limnological), pre-design, design and
construction management. The site study work includes dilution modeling
and we use the latest modeling software for this work.
Dayton & Knight has designed more outfall
projects that any other consultant in B.C.

Biosolids
Management
Opus DaytonKnight also designed the first Autothermal
Themophilic Aerobic
Digestion (ATAD) facilities in North America.
The company has undertaken the process, mechanical, electrical
and instrumentation for ATAD designs in association with consultants in
Colorado, Washington, Florida and California, USA, as well as Japan and
New Zealand.
