Services - Commissioning

The essential objectives of the Commissioning Process are:
  • To start-up the system without contaminating or compromising the existing infrastructure or new equipment.

  • To start-up the system safely to protect all commissioning personnel, including the operators.

  • To test the capacity or functionality of the new system and verify that the system can achieve its design objectives.

Prior to every system startup, Dayton & Knight Ltd. thoroughly inspects the installation of all equipment. We then verify the robustness of the communication system utilizing sophisticated equipment. Controls and instrumentation, so closely related to SCADA installations, receive an extensive loop checkout procedure that includes the final calibration of all related equipment.

At the same time, our water or wastewater engineers verify the system, and provide the initial training to the operator on the operations and maintenance of the system.

During commissioning, Dayton & Knight Ltd. verifies that the process database is complete, confirms the operation of links between the HMI graphics screen and the control system, tests alarming, ensures that desired reports can be generated and also ensures that the system will function within a broader network.

The start-up period will not begin until commissioning is completed to the satisfaction of the client and design engineers.

We also encourage operators to become acquainted with the system during this phase and their input becomes an integral part of the development process.
